I have been interested in the history of the fraternity system since my initiation as a member of the New York Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Syracuse University in the mid 1970s. My dissertation, "Coeducation and the History of Women's Fraternities 1867-1902" focused on the seven founding National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) groups.
